I would like to note that the BFG MT KM's are great tires, but they wear really fast. When New, they have 20/32 inches of tread, but 7,000 miles later they only have 15/32 inches of tread left. That is 25% of the tread in 7,000 miles. That means you can only get about 30,000 if you are lucky! I just wanted to tell you this is case you are making the MTR/ MT KM choice.

Pavement and mud tires do not go well together, especially if you are a commuter and drive on the highway alot! That is why I have the Long Trail Radials, but I think I am going to get All Terrains next...I think! :beaver:

I put on a set of 31x10.5x15 BFG AT KOs exactly 3 years ago and they still have about 1/4 th or 1/3 of the tread left. They now have 46,000 miles on them. I did some siping with a razorblade box cutter which makes them run cooler and reduces wear. I run 40 psi on pavement to reduce wear as well, I guess its paying off. I may go to 33x10.5 when I need new tires NEXT YEAR.

I plan on getting 60,000 miles out of the ATs and I beat the hell out of them offroading. Maybe I just got a good set.

Tires seem to wear faster the first 25 to 50% of tread life. The more space between the lugs or the softer the rubber can affect the wear also. Not all tires wear the same. The KO seems to not wear as fast.

Ive got 7k on my KO's and ive still got the little rubber tits on them.

Yeah, the AT KO's seem to last and last...50k on mine right now and I am hoping to reach 60k

Yeah, my AT/KO's are still in great shape. I love them but would trade, in a heart beat, for some comparable KM's. I'm spending a lot more time in the mud and the KO's just don't handle it well. It's all about trade off.

Paul, what is the secret of the Wild Country TXR's?
I bought my 1st set spring of '99, and took them off late last summer, and the tread is almost new still.

I bought the new ones last summer which I have on now after taking off the 1st set which I ran for the winter.
These tires are some of the longest lasting ones I have ever seen.

The TXR's are good tires. I think it depends also on the weight of your rig. I don't know any secrets. I think it has to do with the rubber compound and maybe the sipping?

Could be. I know my rig keeps gettin' heavier and heavier the older it gets, kind of like me, but the tires wear like iron.
Time to put the Runner on a diet

Both of my sets are siped too, but my new set you can not see the siping as much as my old set.
I don't think the guy cut into it as deep as the 1st set.

However I have never had a tire skid out on me in the rain, so the siping must be doin' it's thing.

Not sure if I will jump on the Goodyear M/T band wagon when either when these need replacing.
Afterall, I have already bought two sets of these, that's gotta tell you I like 'em a lot

I think I got them for around $130 each when Les Schwab Tires ran their sale which they do a few times a year.
That was for a 31x10.5x15.

You can only get them from LS I beleive. It's probably made by Cooper tires, or Kelly.
There are only a few tire makers in the world, and they make most of the "off shoot" brands for other companies.

But they do wear like iron as I mentioned and are a great all year tire.
They are very noisy though, but I love it. They actualy down out my Magnaflow muffler they are that loud on the highway.

TXR's are made by Kelly Springfield which are made by Goodyear. Something like that. I am Happy That u like them.
