3.0 V6 problems
To Anyone that can help,
I recently did a motor swap on a 1991 4 runner and have run into a couple of problems. I swapped the 1991 3.0 manual V6 motor with a 3.0 V6 manual from 1992. Do you know my issues yet?
First issue – distributor wiring plug does not match up...On the 1992 wiring harness that came with the new motor there are the same amount of wires as the '91 and they are the exact same colors. My understanding is that there was a change in the distributor between these two years. Will the '91 distributor work if I reuse my 91' plug? Is there any issues with the ECU, since I still have a '91 ECU.
Second issue – plug that goes from wiring harness to coil is very close to matching up but is not quite deep enough. Can I just switch the plugs out? ECU issues?
Third issue – There is a plug that goes from the wiring harness to the transmission which mounts to the top of the tranny immediately behind the gear shift. Not sure if this is for 4wd or reverse lights...My issue is that on my 1991 there were two wires and on the newly installed 1992 wiring harness there are 3 wires, so of course these two plugs do not match up either. Is there some type of adapter or another fix for this?
Fourth issue – On the 1991 there were two coolant hoses that entered the block, one from the top of the radiator and the other came out of the back of the firewall and ran under the intake manifold (as a metal pipe). These both enter the block at the same spot in a T-shaped input (central and where the upper bearing for the timing belt goes)... on the 1992 motor I put in there was only one coolant hose that came from the upper radiator and entered on the fan side of the motor. Also, I have an extra port on the rear of the '92 motor. My guess is that I should be able to just have the one coolant hose from the upper radiator to the block and use the port in the back for the hose that comes out of the firewall. Does this make sense?
As far as I can tell this is all that is left to get this yota running. Any help is greatly appreciated.

you still have your old block? if so just switch out the dizzy's, your talking about the hoses for the heater core? if so just make a hose to run to the other side, and on the coilpack, if the wires are the same and its just a 2 pin plug, repin your old on onto it, there is only a power and a trigger i believe.?
get you a FSM and compare the wire diagrams.. should be able to salve your own problems there.
