Man I spend all my free time on this and it looks like nothings getting done.

I went to the dealer on thursday to get the egr pipe I needed but they wanted $257.00 for one ,didnt buy it just wraped mine in some muffler repair stuff for now until I can get a used one .

I was going to pick up some steel to work on the motor mounts but the place was closed and will be closed all week. will try and find another place this week.

I took all the wiring out of the lexus and started removing stuff I will not need,I am going to try and use the circuits already in the 4runner,starting ,ignition, charge ,fuel and their relays.I know it can be easier than using these but oh well I am going to try it.

anyway here are a couple of pics.

And because I could not find a way to keep my stock cluster and have the speedometer work i decided to talk to a friend and see if he could help with the custom dash well he convinced me He could do the fibrglass work and make it look Good.

Well he told me to go ahead and mount it the way I wanted it and then give him a call so he could finish it up.
I should finish mounting it tomorrow, then back to the wiring.
By the way I am doing most of the wiring out side of the truck so I can just install the motor and start conncting connectors.
all this because I need a speedometer at the cluster , I know there are after maket speedometers but I wanted it where I thought it should be.

Sweet. I totally agree about the speedo location. A dead speedo would annoy the bejesus out of me.

My brother had a way to get the stock cluster to function properly, I think it was swaping the gear in the transmission, anyways it is on his page if you are interested

Yea I saw that, I hope it works out for him.
I came across a few threads on lextreme where the guys using early 1uz and stock ECM's and trannies were having problems with the tranny when both sensors were not used,But some of the later ones were fine with out the gear driven sensor.

I see your brother had problems with the sc400 headers ,I came across a few swap threads where those are the ones they used .

I got to work on this today , tried fitting the engine into the runner , All I have to say is get ready for some work if you try this .

I am so tired Man , I hurt My elbow bad also .

Well I didint get it fitted . I was trying to get the engine in place so I could take some measurements and Maybe cut some cardboard so I could make the motor mounts .
First I tried with the Ls 400 manifolds no go it wont fit.
Then I tried with the sc400 manifolds and also no go would not drop low enough .
Took it out again removed the manifold droped it in without manifolds, got it as low as possible (2x4 sitting on diff) and as far back as possible .
The ebrake studs hit the drivers side valve cover so I took the engine out again and cut the studs some and hammerd the stud bracket in some .Droped it in again and got both sides measured the same from original mounts on frame to the block where the mounts go ,both were to 5".
I found this picture showing some mounts ,and I dont know how the owner got the engine so far back , I am thinking he had to have beat the firewall to death in order to do so.
In the first pic the red line shows bolts lined up block to frame mounts ,blue line shows how far I got mine in there and it was hitting the firewall already.
The second pic shows Twisties mounts and his motor is to about where I got mine, so this is what I think I will do for mounts.
Also look at both pics and notice neither of them are using SC or LS manifolds they are using some Log style manifolds , I think the tundra 2uz uses log style manifolds so Im on the hunt for some now.

I installed my 1UZ-FE about the same distance back as Twisty's pic, works fine with a 3 core rad and a slim puller fan. More body lift makes the engine easier to move back, so it's hard to compare swaps in some cases.

The log manifolds pictured are a rare find in Oz/NZ, never were on a car imported to NA. Supposedly when you can find them they go for $300-400 a set.

SC manifolds do fit if you remake the collector portion. Hope you find a 4.7 manifold that fits, it would be nice if there was a bolt on opition.

Good luck on the rest of your swap.

Crap...Cebby used to have flange diagrams for getting your own cut and having headers made, but the links on his site are invalid.

I am going to try and find something thats just bolt up , but if I cant I will modify the sc manifolds like others have done.
If you have a sas the sc manifolds will fit with out modifying.Right now they hit the upper a arms.

Thanks !! Get ready man its really alot of work , at least it is for Me .Rebuilding the 3.0 block was super easy compared to this thing.
I am having to learn alot about wiring , I mean I could do regular basic stuff but these wiring diagrams are making my head spin.I am having to check and re check and then check again all my work.

Any way today for about 4 hrs I worked on the wiring .I am going to use some relays and fuses I had from the 1990 4runner I parted out.
Now I need to go rest My brain a little.
