Do you by any chance know what i would have to do to the Auto ECU to make it work? i googled and found very little.

How did you get such a clean, exact paint job? normally alot of people have problems masking holes and certain areas.

It is possible to get a harness from an automatic truck that plugs into a manual ecu. The later the 5vz is, the more likely that you can do that. I have a 98 4runner auto harness in my truck that plugged right up to a 97 taco 5spd ecu.

Belize Off Road Team, what year and model (4runner or truck) is the motor/wiring harness? I will try to look it up for you and see what I can find out. Also, if you can post the part number located on the wiring harness (the white tag near the ecu plugs) that would help out MUCH more.

The thing that you will have to do with the auot harness is cut the transmission ends off to solder on the ends for the 5 spd stuff (like the reverse light switch and the 4x4 light switch)

98 4runner, sorry, i missed that in your first post. If you could get that part number off the harness then I will try to get some part numbers for the ecus that you should be looking for

I thank you for your help Jason, but i spoke to some one yesturday and i was told there is someone here in town that can reprogram my new computer into thinking everything is just fine. Since i am not running a CAT. i cant use a 2nd O2 sensor or it would just mess up, so i am going to talk to him on Monday about how much he will charge and if he can do it.

And you might have made a very good point, i could find a way to solder the auto tranny wires to the 5spd wires, cause they do that alot down here when converting to bigger or newer motors and dont have all the needed wires.

*UPDATE**
You will need to bypass the neutral safety start switch in the auto trans. harness. Fairly easy, you can add a switch between the two wires you'll be splicing to create a kill/anit theft switch, too.

i just got that from my thread over at ih8mud. so does anybody have a diagram they could send me so i know what wire he is talking about? PLEASE

No, you really dont. The signal wire is not part of that harness, unlike the 3.0 harness. Thats part of the swap actually. I ran a wire for the starter signal from the starter relay in fuse block on the pass fender down to the starter. That relay just uses your original wiring in the truck (like the clutch start cancel switch, etc...) that is already in the dash.

I've attached a start circuit EWD for a 1991 4runner. Hope this helps.

you really need to have wiring diagrams specific to your donor and recipient years and models.

try techinfo.toyota.com

if you haven't already heard of that site, it costs ten dollars a day and gives you unlimited access to ewd's from multiple years. everything you can download in a 24 hour period.

I agree with screamer76, you will need them to make the conversion harness anyways (if you are going to make it). It will probably be a black wire with a white stripe like hrdted showed in his ewd, but I dont know if they changed the wire color over there or something. Get into the fuse block and check out the wire colors on your starter relay, if you have a b-w and it gets power when you hold the clutch and hit the key then you know.

Where the wire would get lost is IH1 pin 22, thats where it goes into the 3.0 harness. Like I said earlier the 5vz harness does not include this so just run it from the relay block, or you could use one of the extra wires that you will end up with on the auto harness.

Thanks for the help, i have the FSM for my 1991, and i think i will get my friend to photo copy the engine and wireing digrams from a local dealer in Ontario, then he can bring it down with him in August. If the local guy can reprogram computers then i should be fine.

Again thanks for all your help i'll post up when i bring it home!
