If you got the 3.0 I'll just say that I blew my HG over the weekend and using part store parts (gotta have it buttoned up by Monday) I spent about $400 on the gaskets, new head bolts, a new timing belt and water pump (no idea when they were changed last). Not counting oil, antifreeze, and any other things that might be bad when I tear into it tomorrow, from what I've been reading that's easily 1/3 of the way into a 3.4L swap, which nets you a more powerful and reliable engine. If I wasn't on such a short time frame myself I would have definitely gone the way of the 3.4.

Assuming you have a 3VZE, you would need to locate a 5VZE motor, complete engine wiring harness, and ECU (computer). Pull out your old motor, remove the wiring harness and the computer from the passenger side interior kick panel, reinstall in reverse order. There are quite a few write ups on this website with detailed swaps. Use the Search button above, and grab a cold drink..

I found a company that sells the 3.4 ready to go for 3500.00 shipped to you. it is set up for the ps and ac and alternator to bolt right up. if you have an auto i think it was a little more. if your doing it your self figure another 1000.00 for all the other little stuff like exhaust, ect. if you have to pay for labor then probaly around 6k total.

Agreed.

My first headgasket took me about 15 hours. Good Luck!

You can get the gasket set from rock auto for about 1/2 of what youll get it for in the parts stores.

You can spend a few thou doing any other motor swap, or you can fix your junk for under 500 dollars.
Are you trying to spend a grand or two?

Keep it Toyota get a 3.4 or the Lexus V8.

I hate when people take a good dependable truck and swap out the motor for an American motor.

Whats the point of getting a Toyota truck to swap out for a 350? Why not just buy an American truck to start out with?

350 swap is homo.

go a find a 3.4L. I'm sure you could find everything needed and a low mile engine for around 1000
