Which engine should i get?
i currently have a rod knocking and i know it will last a while longer, but i want to rebuild/ replace now. im planning on setting up a 22rte(turbo). i have three options to replace my engine in my truck.
option1- get a junkyard 22re or 22rte if i can find one. rebuild it and put it in. my truck would probably be down for no more than a week.
option 2- buy an partial engine (head and block assembled) from my dad for $300. pull the engine out of mine and swap parts between the two and build a 22rte. truck would probably be down for a while.
option 3- i dont know much about the 2.7L 3RZ but ive heard good things about them. i could get a 3RZ from the junkyard and do the same thing from option 1 with it.
im wanting to keep my truck out of commission for a very small amount of time. im also wanting to do this kinda cheap if possible. have any of you done these swaps and what did you think? any opinions will be appreciated. all info you need should be in my sig but if you need to know anything else just ask.

Cheap and adding a turbo do not go together...FYI. 22RET's are not worth it, in my opnion.
You will have to find a proper 22ret block that has the proper holes tapped to support the oil feed for the turbo...or a a really good machinest. Like wise for the head.
If you want power, go for the 3.4 swap. Then you will have to get an "R" series tranny or an adapeter for your "W" series tranny.
If you go the 3RZ route...I hope your good at fab work and electical systems.

ive looked into the costs of a 22rte and i can come up with the $. i plan on building the engine some ex. bored .20 over, racing pistons, bigger valves, engnbldr cam, aftermarket turbo(probably will run at 8psi most of the time), and a few other mods. i really want to stick with the 22re series engine, so im almost convinced im going to build a 22rte. but i might change my mind. what else would i have to do for the 3.4 swap besides tranny adapter?

You need 3.0 frame and motor mounts. You need 3.0 or 3.4 clutch, flywheel and starter, but the 3.0 throw out bearing. You need to get a 3.4 computer, and a harness that will be pinned to work with the new motor/ body combo. Also need a 3.0 oil pan, with a t100 3.4 oil pickup and dipstick set up, and. 3.0 oil pressure sender.
Not so easy. But it can be done. You need to scan the 3.4 swap section, there are a couple 22re to 3.4 swaps in there.
