Ok, I have a 96T and I am thinking about doing a SAS with a Dana 44.
I have a set of front leafs that I took off a 85 Yota a few years back, I believe them to be aftermarket springs, not lifted a whole lot. I had them in the front of a wrangler for a while but found them too stiff.
One of my questions is: Do you think the springs will work with the 3.4?
Do you think they will work in general?
I'm no stranger to fab work, I've built a few jeeps and done some other crazy stuff so fabbing parts won't be a problem.
Another question I have is the reference to the "road worthy sas" thread, he keeps saying he had to turn his c's. Why? Pinion angle can be compensated for with a cv drive shaft, I think it's better to have the castor proper and deal with the pinion angle. Most of us aren't qualified or capable of turning the c's.
I have shortened dana 44 axles in the past so I'm confident I could do it if I thought it was necessary.
I guess another concern of mine is will the T make a good off road rig?
I've wheeled jeeps in the past. I'm not too worried about body damage as it ain't no cherry anyway...LOL

Your spring and rear axle are fine.
You can sort of correct pinion angle with degree shims, but its sort of a cheap fix

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread though.
In all honesty, most of the threads I have read here and other places don't have a lot of tech info. They are mostly "this is what I did" which is fine, I was hoping for some more specific info. Out of all the threads I've read, one of the things I got is that spring packs are a personal preference so to speak. I'm not afraid to experiment but was looking for a base line or someone to tell me that what I have to work with is fine, which is what rattlewagon is telling me, thank you rattlewagon.
Doing this sort of fab stuff is kind of like medicine, it's not an exact science so we have to do trial and error.

91 4.0, 5 spd
spring over with 8.8 in the rear, Auburn ected in the rear, arb in the front, 4:88's all around. 36" IROK radials.
On board air, sye, custom drive shaft, bumpers, spare tire carrier, rock sliders, custom bumpers, warn winch. yada, yada, yada.
All fab work including gear and locker installations done by me.
Just in case you were wondering about my capabilities.

Ok, I have the front hanger built and I'm getting ready to put the T under the knife. I have no idea where "stock" would be as they never made one with leaf springs so I'm going to cut everything out and mock up the springs I have and see where that leaves me (no pun intended).

If the weather is crappy on Sunday, he's going under the knife to get the IFS stuff off and at least make it into a roller so it doesn't hog the shop space!

Ok, time for an update!
Got all the IFS crap cut out the other day, I've got the 44 in there temporarily and a god awe-full steering cob job just so I can drive it in and out of the garage.
