LOW lift w/ High-Steer?
Hey guys,
I'm really starting to research my lift for my '83 Pickup and I'm really struggling with the direction I need to go. So I thought I'd come look to you guys for some advice..
Project goals:
After reading a few build threads I've come across a few setups that definately reminded me of things I will not be doing, and others gave me ideas that I'd like to incorperate into my build. Anyhow.. I'm not exactly looking for a "package" kit as I don't mind piecing together the components to get precicely what I'm looking for out of a suspension setup. I've previously owned a '88 4Runner with a All-Pro 4" SAS that was on 33x12.50's and I'm kind of using that as my guide. Loved that setup, but I would like to keep it just a tad lower for this build if at all possible. Here's some intial thoughts that I'd like to run by you experts/experienced personnel:
FRONT:
OME Leaves which are supposed to be about a 2" lift over stock.
Use a drop hanger up front to improve castor and pinion angle and pick up ~1/2" lift
REAR:
OME Leaves which are again, supposed to be about 2" lift over stock.
Use a shackle length that provides proper height
Now.. My question would be this.. Would this allow use of a high-steer setup or am I going to have to continue my search for a different set of springs that would provide clearance.

Project goals:
- Maintain decent road manners/ride, yet greatly improve offroad capability and flex.
- Keep the ride height as low as possible, yet still allowing clearance for High-Steer componets and up to a 33x12.50 tire.
- QUALITY leaf springs.

You only need 3" to clear high steer. It cleared and I added high steer. Lots of extras I added too.
I'm partial to the ones I sell. 3" leaf springs front and rear for a pickup would look nice.
I've got an 82 pickup build up thread with 4" and it clears 35s easy.
