axle costs

what might somone pay for a 85 solid axle 4.10 gears, with new calipers, rotors, and pads. All stock parts, but in good shape all painted and shined up. Knucks are also in good shape.
Also I was wondering the cost of a 92 rear axle with drums, but new pads and all in good shape.

the new rotors and pads may not make a difference. usually people use FJ rotors so they can use the v6 calipers. but i paid 150 for mine 3 years ago.

I bought one last week for $250 that was manual hub to manual hub with leaf springs and steering.

It was filthy though.

I paid $125 for my 80 front axle on my truck (minus a birf that the owner wanted back) and I paid $150 for my spare front axle (missing one spindle/short side inner/wheel hub/locking hub) but I just happen to have plenty of spare parts so it wasn't a problem.

I paid $125 for an 83 in decent shape. A little pitting inside the knuckle housing but other than that it was ok. I finally found one at a shop a couple hours south. I drove down not knowing much and I met a totally knowledgable guy regarding Toyota modifications as well as general Toyota maintence. MSR is his name on Yotatech. He has been VERY helpful with a wide range of issues. If you are anywhere near Nor Cal. I would highly reccomend him-(Mike is his name.) I am having him do my gearing and anything else that pops up that I dont want to deal with.

And you wonder why they were for sale for so long?

Rears should never go for more than 100-150 bucks with diff...anything more and you are getting the shaft

Exactly! I can get a front SFA w/ rear for $300-350 all day long around here and that is 84/85 SFA. The other years go for cheaper than that.
