Yea the springs will break in and settle over the course of a couple thousand miles. I just saw the arch on your springs and was like damn! I have the rears up front on mine they are almost flat and it still clears 37's with no rubbing at full flex.

Yeah I am running waggonner springs, they have a nice curve to them and they keep my axle in the same spot which is nice. Trying to keep this project as cheap and dd friendly as possible.

Thanks, yeah just need to go get the springs now, spotted a good pair in the pick and pull just need to go back with the right tools.

Nice i've heard of that being done but never seen it firsthand. Have you wheeled them yet? seems like they'd be kinda stiff cause those waggys are steel beasts

No I haven't wheeled them yet, but on the road the waggys seem pretty soft. I think since they are have a bunch of thin leafs they can still be soft.

Yeah its definately sagging in the back, I already have an ADL for the 63s just worried it will then add to much lift.

Yeah It was a fun project, it was just taking to much time and money and since I parted it out I more then paid for the 3rd gen. Also thinking of using the rear part of the '81 frame to make a teardrop trailer.

I ended up just putting the ADL in but I didn't want to mess around with having to modify the emergency brake so ended up taking out the overload. So I think its a little better but not much since taking out the overload canceled out most of the add lift I was going to get. I'm still using the stock spring hangar, so once I get around to putting new ones on a little farther back it will fix my shackle angle and give me a little lift.

On the leafs, is there an associated capacity for each one (i.e. one leaf at 1/4" thick able to handle x amount of lbs?). My gut tells me there is a direct tie to the length of the spring too . . .
Algranger, I love the gusset recommendation on the front spring hanger (not sure how much of an impact this is to a SAS, but i love the engineering logic-strength!).

I watched this 4x4 show (Extreme 4x4 on Spike network) that showed where to tie into the frame when doing a SAS, they mentioned that you wanna let the truck rest on the spring then mark the location above the final setpoint when the full weight of the truck is resting. Out of curiosity, is this how you did it? or did you use a diff method?

I've got a 1990 4x4, and some of the front end components are looking a little rough. I've been thinking that if it won't pass inspection next time (due to the front end), that I might like to go your route with a SAS. Could you tell me what year Wagoneer leaf springs they are? And what vehicle is the axle from? You made it look easy
