Off road trail guides
Some friends and I are planning a trip next year to SW Colorado to drive a few trails, see some country and have some fun.
Here are 3 books I found, can anyone recommend others? OR have you used these?

A mod can move to the proper section.
I recommend the Charles Wells books.
Buy the top one with this description :
GUIDE TO Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails Third Edition $26.95
Also, As valuable as those books are, BUY A MAP for the areas you will be off the pavement. Most visitors centers at state/ national parks have good maps of the trails and forest service roads. Good luck and have fun.

Backcountry Adventures has my vote . . .
I have used the trail write-ups from both the Charles A. Wells books and the Backcountry Adventures books. I prefer the write-ups in the Backcountry Adventure books. I have also used the write-ups from Tony Huegel (Backcountry Byways books).
The Backcountry Adventure books have the most complete history, trail detail, gps info. I have also found that the difficulty ratings in the Charles A. Wells and Tony Huegel books are all over the place. Example - moderate is used for anything from easy graded dirt road to pretty washed-out to the point where I'm sure a stock 3rd gen 4Runner would be banging off rocks!
You might try the trails.com service, also. You will find the trail write-ups from all three authors on this site.
I own books for CA and UT from all three authors and subscribe to trails.com. My wife and I have used trail write-ups for many trails by these authors.
Good luck!
Steve.
