correction we had 4runners, 1 isuzu, and Rob's Rav4
j/k nice pics man. The runner is running good again, I washed all the mud off, and then took it to a detail shop where they went to work on the interior for about 8 hours, and cleaned her all back up. The only thing left is to open up the nav computer, blow the mud out, and pray that it works. ALso need to remove the headlamp, and taillamp and drain the water out of them, and then she will be as good as new. I've already ordered up the parts up for the next mod. and no its not a snorkel! I don't plan on dropping her in any more ponds that turn out to be lakes.
hey, mike/rob .. I showed the truck to Tom, he wants to bring another truck down on our next run, its either an old truck or runner, I don't remember .. but its lifted, locked front and rear, and winched front and rear.

Glad your rig is still runnin Shazad!
I'm gonna have to snatch up a snorkel before the next run, and have Tom install it! (I would try to install it, but I'm scared to cut the sheet metal!)
can't wait for the next run! MORE MODS MORE MODS!!!

ARB makes the Safari snorkel, these guys have one for the V6 4runner:

I think firefyteremt has also posted details somewhere about waterproofing your rig, including the computer.

OMIGOSH!
Wow Shavad! That's quite the adventure your 4Runner took there. Glad you got her running again. Just think of the smell as a souvenier of your trip. I seem to remember someone saying that about my rocker panel and quarter panel.
Wish I was there guys, but at the same time relieved I wasn't. Knowing my luck I would have been one of the ones to Hyrdolock. hehe
Great pics Rob.

Engine Damage
Wooh.. that's some serious wheelin'
How badly was the engine damaged when it drank the water
Can you give us an idea of the $$ damage, just for the hydro lock.
Also where did the water enter the cab, can you remember... or were you too busy tryin' to get the out of there
Glad to hear that you are back on the road again

total cost of damage on this trip:
1. total cost of engine damage: $0.00
2. New navigation computer off of Ebay: $405
3. Interior detail (8.5 hours): $100
4. Realign front bumper (TJM), drain front headlamp, drain rear tail lamp, remove door panels, and dry out power window mechanism: $0.00
I was so lucky that there is no engine damage. No loss in power, everything worked fine. There were two lights lit up on the dash "VSC TRAC" and VSC OFF" that were lit up for a few days, but have since gone away. My front head lamp had taken in water, I've drained the water out, but I need to go buy a new bulb, hopefully it still works. I count my blessings every day. I won't be hitting any more water trails for awhile, at least until I finish paying the truck off.
Its a tuff little engine, the worst part is I have one of those K&N FIPKs with an open cone air filter, so I know she sucked in some serious water. The engine cut off by itself. She started taking in water almost right away. I would say within 5-7 min, the front passenger compartment was filled up to the upper edge of the lower cushion. The rear took in water too, including the trunk, but it wasn't as bad.
I was reading over on ODW, and this other guy hydrolocked his truck, and hes spending a lot of money replacing everything he can think of to make it run smooth again.
oh well, I learned a lot from this experience, I hope it was worth it, in the least I got some cool pics right?
:pat:
