6th Annual Pismo 4runner Jamboree, Oct. 10-12, 2008
It's time for some fun at the dunes!
6th Annual Pismo 4runner Jamboree
I'll actually post most of that info listed in the link above on here later today when I have time, but wanted to at least get the info out. You don't have to sign up at UY to get on the list, you can post up here and I can add you if you like.
For those who didn't make it last year, here's the report and pics from last year's jambo.
UY Trip Report
YT Trip Report
I'll add more info here, including the raffle list.

Ladies and gents,
It's time for the 6th Annual Pismo 4RJ! Last year's Jambo was a huge hit, and we plan on making this year's even better. Come out for some sun, sand, food, wheeling, prizes, and good times. This is a family friendly event, so bring the whole family! For those that didn't get to attend last year, or for those who just need a refresher to get the blood pumping, Last year's Pismo 4RJ
Dates of event: October 10th-12th, 2008
Location: Oceano Dunes SVRA, CA
(Reservations)
http://www.reserveamerica.com/ca/Oce...&parkId=120065
Price to camp is $10.00 per night and it covers one vehicle and one legally towed vehicle.
Day use is $5.00 or you can buy a year pass for $50.00 that is good for all California SVRAs. Day use passes are good till 11pm.
Camp Area Info:
Once you are in the park, head South down the beach. The camp area will be right at pole #6.
The camp will be between the high tide line and the restrooms which are a couple hundred yards in towards the dunes. We should be the biggest group out there that weekend so we should be pretty easy to spot.

Trail run for those that are interested. We will hit the Chevron Station to air up and fuel for those that need it. Hi Mtn. Rd. up to Hi Mtn. Lookout (2WD friendly), from there we will have a few options. For those with 4wd and not too concerned about brush scratches, they can do some of Garcia Ridge Trail, others can continue on Hi Mtn Rd. to Pozo (and then out to Hwy 101), or others could backtrack on Hi Mtn. Rd. to Hwy 101. (I will provide directions and I will post them here with GPS coord. so you can copy them yourself also).
*Jenn of JnJ has been nice enough to volunteer to come up with some activities for the kids. If you are bringing kids, please post up their ages so that Jenn can have a decent idea of the age groups and how many. Also, if you have any ideas let either me or Jenn know. Jenn, thanks again!*
Some suggested items to bring for dune running and camping:
Spare set of keys (sand can have a funny way of swallowing up important things)
Water for drinking, cleaning, etc... especially if you are camping
If tent camping, some kind of sand stakes or at least heavy items to leave in the corners of your tent.
Toilet Paper :poke:
Warm clothes (it can really cool off at night)
Wet weather gear (we'll keep an eye on the weather as it gets closer)
Small broom and dustpan for those tent camping (it won't take you long to figure out why you need it)
Shovel (helpfull for many things in the sand, in the camp and while out on the dunes)
Snatch strap (no metal hooks!)
CB or at least some of those little handheld family radios (we will run both)
Piece of plywood or other wood to put your jack on to keep it from sinking in the sand in the event you need to use it.
Fire Extinguisher
First Aid kit (we will have some out there, but it is always a great idea to have a small stocked one in your vehicle)
....more to come as I think of other things

Clam Chowder!!!!!!!
The clam chowder will be from Splash Cafe and you will have your choice of a bowl of clam chowder or clam chowder in a toasted sourdough bread bowl.
I am asking that you prepay for your clam chowder, so I know for sure how much to get. Also, that's one less thing you need to worry about once you are there. There is a slight chance that there will be extra available for those that don't prepay and want to buy it there, but don't count on it.
The regular bowl will be $5.00
The sourdough bread bowl will be $7.00
I must have your order and $$ by Oct. 7th, 2008
You can paypal me at stovertileanddesign@charter.net Make sure to include your name/username and what you are paying for. If you don't have paypal, pm me for other options.
For those that haven't had it before and are wondering, the bowl on its own makes a decent size meal and the sourdough bread bowl is a huge meal. Don't miss out on this tradition!
We will be serving it in camp from 4-6pm on Sat. Oct. 11th.

Hey Joey, that would be great if you could make it.
Yes, I am planning on doing the clam chowder feast again. Can't beat getting splash cafe delivered to the dunes! : )
Edit: Hey congrats on the moderatership! Dude, how long have you had that avatar? : )
Edit again: Are you going to bring the 4runner or the Taco? I would say it's a tough choice, I had a blast driving our taco out there, but was afraid I'd have too much fun and break my wife's truck. Haha

I'll be following Joey (UKMyers) down from Vacaville in my truck.
I've never been to the Oceano Dunes, what is the policy on bringing a dog?

I'm thinking of doing a prize for the furthest traveled, but Yotafun plans on flying in from PA, so that one will be hard to beat.
Sounds good, I'll see you there. Dogs are more than welcome. I leave mine at home, as he doesn't like the high speed bouncing around. Also, all the loud quads and motorcycles freak him out. It's all up to you and what your dog is used to and can handle.

Bring whatever you want. I think Tofer is bringing his quad if he makes it down. If I had one, I'd probably bring it.
It is a really lax time out there and easy to do whatever you want. Probably the only things that will be on a hard schedule will be the clam chowder feast and the raffle, and trying to get a group shot/see who wants to jump their junk.

I would say "sorta soft" - "really soft" I have no experience on a bike out there other than dodging them. I do see them running both out there and a friend of mine said that the sand tire made a huge difference when he put one on his. Hope that helps
