Rear window defrost

........I've got an 88 runner that I put a SR5 tailgate on and would like to hook up the defrost that wasn't on the original. The tabs are there for wires and I baught a stock console switch, do I just need to run 12 volts of power through it or can someone tell me what needs to happen. Any suggestions would be apprectiated. Thanks for your time..........TIM

You should use a relay because of the high current in the defroster. Wire it up similar to this diagram, just put the defroster in place of the lights.
