Installing radio.Which is power wire??90 toyo
Hey everyone.
I have a 90 toyota pickup 3vze and need help locating the power wire to install a new radio. I installed my last radio (died) a while ago and the only power wire i could find was the horn. For some reason that was the only wire giving power to the head unit. What color is the power wire for radio installs? Red is my guess but no power there. Any1 Know what color i should be looking for? thanks
Chris

www.the12volt.com has wiring tables that will convert original color codes to color codes used by modern radios

Yes indeed you gotta love people who cut off the factory plug then can`t figure out it is so easy to just buy the adapter to plug into the new unit.
Until you get to the point that your pushing so much power and your vehicle is now just a mobile sound system the factory harness works just fine.
There should be a plug but who knows it could be long gone.
If you can`t find the correct wires as you need one always powered for the presets or you will lose them every you shut it off.

get a test light or a voltmeter. you should have one wire that has power at all times and one that has power only when the ignition is on. on a modern stereo usually the yellow wire is constant power and the red is ignition power and should have a fuse on it.
