So I have a pair hooked up so I can turn them on whenever. However, only one light comes on. Both have uninterupted circuits. I switched the lamps and the same side refuses to light up.

It got too late for me to fiddle with it any more, but here's what I'm thinking. They are both grounded to the same point. Should each run to an individual ground?

Check the grouds. Mine did the same on my arb bumper.

I fiddled with a little and here's the deal:

Two lights, let's say A and B, both grounded to the same point. Only A works. Ground to different points, only A works. Only A grounded, only A works (makes sense). Only B grounded, both work but are very dim. What gives?

Obviously I know nothing about wiring or electricity so any help is appreciated.

Are you using one of those cheesy inline wire connectors that came with the kit?

If so get rid of it, and use two separate ground wires. One for each lamp.

Yeah, I'm using the butt connectors. I have two grounds, one for each lamp. Only one light works when I have both grounded. When I ground only light A ,only that one works. When I ground only light B they both work, but are very weak. I understand the butt connectors are poor, but don't see how replacing them would make them both suddenly work.

Yeah I was not talking about the butt connectors, but you do have two separate grounds. Just pull all of the wires, and re-wire the whole thing. Starting from scratch always seems to do the trick for me.

problem solved. I wired one light and my roommate wired the other while I took care of the relay and switch. Somehow he put the two lights in series.
