Auto Light Shut-off Quit Working

For about a week my 2002 Taco's auto shut-off headlight feature stopped working. Usually I can leave my headlights switched on and when the ignition is killed, the lights go out as soon as the doors open. For about a week this feature stopped working(found out by dead battery one morning) and then it came back? Any Ideas?

ps How do you guys shrink your personal images to fit the avatar size of 140x140?

Thanks-

Same thing happen in my 97' 4Runner, instead of auto shutting off now it just screams at me...
Would love to change that...
I use photo bucket and it has a feature to resize images for avatar size, but i have some art editing programs such like Macromedia Fireworks and Adobe Photoshop that you can resize the image it.

I have a 4Runner, might be the same. My auto shut off also quit working and I found out it was becasue of the setting on my overhead light. I had set it to off and it needed to be in the auto on when the door opens. Anyways now my headlights shut off again

Yes I know this, your driving from the passnegers seat, I would see no other reason...

My dome like has always been in the same postion...

My auto shut off stopped working this poast summer after a lond rainny drive...
My fog light switch blew and I was pissed cause it happen ont he way...

But I checked all other fuses and such and everything checked out...
And the ECU has been reset a number of times due to CEL and radio instilation so I just don't know what I am missing...

It might be a water problem, I got a windshield replaced 3 years ago and now it leaks, but only on the pass. side . Are there connections there under the glove box that could have gotten wet, then dried out so the shut off worked again?

That is odd, definitely let us know if you find a reason behind it not working. Also, as far as editing pics online and stuff for avatars, or profile pics (contributing memebers only) or anything else really, here is a cool free editor...http://www.myimager.com/

Best of Luck.

Stero Misteriosuly stop putting out sound,
Rear door getting stuck and then light not coming on when open...

It's more than likely the switch in your driver's door that has dirty contacts and not allowing a good path to ground when you open your door. It happened to me on my 2002 4Runner. A quick blast with electrical contact cleaner and compressed air, and it was as good as new.

I have some pictures... check them out here

See When I first got my 97' it didn't buzz,
it would just automatically shut off,
then one day I had left them on like normal,
I was gettin out of the car and i noticed a buzzing and realized,
Hey my lights are on...

So I really don't know...

Anyone have any ideas?
Was I just going crasy when I first got my Runner?

My '93 buzzes (but doesn't have auto headlight shut-off), but my '02 doesn't buzz. When my switch was dirty on the '02, my lights just stayed on when I opened my door... no buzzer.
