I finally got a chance to look at this. You don't say what year you are talking about. I looked at my wiring diagram book for an 89 and though the engine harness and body harness are similiar there are a few differences. Some of these differences involve plugs where 1/2 is part of the engine harness and the other 1/2 is part of the body harness. Matching these up may be a problem because wires for the same circuits on the engine side mate to a different style of plug on the body side.
If you are switching V6 4Runner to 22Re 4Runner then I would change the engine and the body harness as well. A lot more work yes, but once done everything should work the way it should. If you think it's too much work and don't change it, you may spend more time troubleshooting circuits that don't work. Also your v6 tach (if you have one) will not register correctly with the 22re, so you have to change that as well. If your vehicles are pre 90 then the tach wire will be in the harness regardless of whether or not the other vehicle had a tach, from what I've read this may not be the case in a 2nd generation (90-95) 4Runner.
Also trying to pick up a vehicle specific Toyota wiring diagram book for your application, it will be a great bonus.

does any one have a diagram for the fuel injectors? My 89 toyota pickup is v6 3.0 and I just bought it and have done complete tune up and replaced the fuel injectors and replaced the oxygen sensor. I am barely getting 100 miles to each full tank of gas and I found that one of my injectors is still not working cause there is no power to it. Please help!!!!
