Let's take into account the average SUV driver (which is the type of vehicle they out a diesel in other than Tundra):

1.) Get in car.
2.) Start car (wouldn't dream of waiting for plugs to warm up)
3.) Immediatly crank heat and drive away at 1/2 throttle or more
4.) Get to work 9 minutes later

See what I mean? There's not one person with the aforementioned driving style (which is most people nowadays) that would benefit from a diesel. People don't want to take time to plug their cars in, or let them warm up, or pay more for fuel and maintenence.

I do agree with you that the public, in genreal, Is pretty uneducated about diesels, and they are also very lazy when it comes to treating vehicles properly

but as aviator said, there are vehicles, like the VW golf's that are hop-in and go, now how much that effects them, I couldn't say

But there are a few other small vehicles that had diesels like the Jeep Liberty, although they did have some problems with them and eventually stopped making them, but now they are stuffing diesels in the Grand Cherokee's, and for god's sake you can get a VW Toureg with a V12 diesel (granted they do start at like $50k or something) I would love to have one of those

I don't think those I stated have to wait for glow plugs but I could be mistaken,

the first thing toyota is going to o in their truck line up is introduce the A-BAT in either it's own new truck or a hybrid tacoma or Tundra. then when they can finally get their diesels to hit emissions, THEN they will introduce them. and VW used a hilux body many years ago in mexico and now they are doing it again for the truck market with a Hilux body and VW diesel engine. the day Toyota passes diesel emissions, the day you see a diesel and hybrid selection only. with the only Petrol being older yota's.

Toyota Diese

I was told by Ford dealers Cat would be putting a quality diesel in the new Ford? Well that did not happen. So where is the Cat Diesel? Could it be considered for Toyota. I had two Dodge pickups with the Cummins. One was a 5.9 the second was a 6.7. I liked the 6.7 and would consider another one unless Toyota comes through. Cat in a Toyota that would be cool.

Hahaha. I was reading On my phone and didn't realize it was a 2008 post till I already started to read. Too bad it never happened.

Sometimes YT is like a time capsule.

Yeah I still hold hope for the future though... if enough of us keep writing letters to Toyota saying we want it we may get a diesel... one day...
