My truck rode very poorly due to how stiff it was. Rancho lift springs up front and add a leaf in the rear. However, it always seemed odd at exactly how stiff it was. I didnt look into it much and blamed it on the add a leaf and lightness of the vehicle (82 toyota). Today i finished my chevy 63 inch leaf swap. Lowered it down and was amazed at how soft they were! I put my shocks back on and the rear end was stiffened incredibly. My shocks are rancho rs500's. The shocks are not close to maxed out in either direction and seem like a great length. They are almost a year old. My question is has other people had similar issues with these shocks. Are they possibly made for a heavier vehicle? They dont resist much compressing them by hand but thats not at a very fast rate like they are when handling bumps. If other people have had issues like this with the rancho shocks, what are some good suggestions for a 82 toyota.

get some adjustable shocks you can soften up for a decent ride, but you can stiffen up for hauling a heavy load.

Im assumeing you ment RS5000s, If so I ran a set on a f150 years ago and hated them, they are a very slow responding shocks even on a heavy truck like my ford. for an inexspensive shock I would look at PRO COMP [I run them on my runner] or somthing similar. as stated adjustable are a great way to go but can get pricey

well the chevy springs put me almost exactly as where i was before as far as lift goes. im sure the shocks are the right length, made sure of that when i lifted it the first time. ill swap in some shocks from some buddies trucks and see how it goes, maybe go pickup a set of the procomps like you suggested ill see if i cant return these rancho ones since i used to work at the place i got them from.
