mikunis for offroad??

i just picked up a 20r head that was on a circle track car. i got it for $280 and it has some big cam in it, its proted and polished and has 2 nice lookin 40phh mikunis stuck to the side of it i think i got a nice deal . i know the mikunis were discontinued in 95 and parts are scarce. how well to these do getting bounced around in an offroad situation?? my truck is a trail ridin truck on 38 swampers here in jersey, it sees mainly mud, sandy trails, and sand pits. if these carbs will be decent for the woods i'll keepem and fab up a nice offroad airfilter setup for them. if they are going to be more trouble than they are worth i'll sellem and buy other motor goodies. i really would like to smoke some hondas while im rollin on 38's though what do you guys that have had experience with these carbs think??

try it out see whats you think. GREAT for racing, obviously. i mean, its not gonna have anywhere near the advantage of EFI for offroad, (extreme angles) but in mud, i doubt it will make a difference. hey might give you more up and go. though..... say byebye to your gas mileage with dual carbs.

Make sure the Mikunis have spring loaded floats, if they do they will great for off-road. I used to race my truck off-road in the 80's and ran an 18RG with twin Mikunis.

Not sure now. I used to purchase mine from Mikuni USA. You could call L.C. Engineering and see if they have any left or maybe they could give you a source. I run Weber DCOE side drafts now with spring loaded floats.
