Ok, went to replace pinion seal on third member and discovered that I could grab the pinion itself and move it up and down several inches. I'm not the most familiar with differentials, but I don't think she's supposed to wobble quite that much. Is the chunk worn out or what?

 

Did you try torquing it to 90ftlbs? It might have loosend off over the years..
