Let me tell you why I haven't been on in a while
*I am not trying to sell my truck in this thread, just simple saying its for sale-please do not move*
So, on a cloudy St. Patrick's day around 4:00pm my truck was involved in a hit and run. The truck was parked down the street from my house in an area where it won't bug my neighbors since it has been sitting for awhile.
This is what we (my neighbor, the police and myself) assume. An ugly colored green/blue Honda Accord or Civic, mid 90's came flying around a corner and smashed into my neighbors older Mercedes, then bounced off and went straight into the side of my truck, throwing the passenger side wheels on the sidewalk.
My street is an S curve and the diagram shows what happened.
The repairs are at approximately $3900, while before the crash the truck would be worth roughly $6000.
Here are pictures of the damage. Surprisingly, there is absoluetely NO frame damage, pure cosmetic, but because of the location of where the driver hit it, its a pretty difficult fix.
***THE TRUCK IS FOR SALE*** I have had more than 15 offers to buy this truck from me since June 2005. I have had the truck checked by a body shop and mechanic and its is perfectly sound, except for the body damage and a few interior blemishes which are all very minor. Because of the number of offers, I figured 4000 was a fair starting price.
Do you think $4000 is a fair asking price?
And the reason this truck has been sitting is because I got an Infiniti QX4, which is more practical for me. Which is in the shop because someone hit it.

The truck only has liability. So it's coming out of the pocket.
I think 4k is pretty fair. The miles are low, I don't think I have ever seen a Toyota with miles lower then 150k. hahaha. But this thing has plenty of life left on it. I definitely think 4k is very possible.

But yeah dude, good decision to sell it, esp. since you won't use it anymore. I am glad there is no frame damage too, I thought you said there was, glad it turned out differently. Doesn't really look like a big crash anyway, so I was surprised at first.
I assume they never found out who owns the Honda via the VIN on the bumper?
And WTH happened to your QX4 dude?
Bob: Nice House? Hell yeah! You gotta see it in person.

I think it would have prevented the body damage, and from the size of the dent, I don't think the hit was hard enough to damage the frame, but I see your point. If there were something solid there distributing the force along the side of the truck, it could have pushed the truck sideways, and damaged something like wheels or axles as it hit the curb. My guess is the impact wasn't that strong.
I would just like to see the look on the driver's face when they slammed into the truck, screwed up their bumper, hood, etc, and just scratched the paint on the sliders...

$4000 with that kind of damage and that many miles.? Good luck if you get the $ for it let us know cause I could sell my rigs and buy a house.
Personally I wouldnt pay more than 2500 for it, but maybe you will find a sucker. YOu could cut that panel out and weld in a new one and with a little bondo it would look like new.

$4k IS a decent asking price for that truck, so don't doubt yourself. I bought my '92 extracab 4x4 from a salvage auction for $3800. It had 121k and was clean inside, but it was damaged from a rear-end collosion that pushed it into the vehicle ahead of it. The rear of the frame had to be straightened, the box straightened/replaced, both bumpers replaced, hood and grill center replaced, and straightened out the toyota brush guard. It also had a bugshield (destroyed) and a Lund visor, and a Radco topper. It's a DX model, but with the V6, cruise control, wing windows, and A/C I think it was well worth the cost. Around that time I saw trucks like it in the paper for $8-$9,000, so I got a deal. These trucks hold their value, so don't shortsell yourself!
