Header wrap for insulation?
Since header wrap helps keep heat in... will it help keep heat out as well?
If one wrapped or covered a fuel line, intake, wires would it:
1. Help deflect the heat from the exhaust and engine.
2. Actually retain heat or make item wrapped even hotter.
3. Do nothing except waste time, like this thread.
I know there are other products out there designed to guard wires and lines against heat, but I have some left over wrap already.

I tried to wrap my speedo cable in an asbesto foil and it was just too tight of an area to make it work. If you wrap the headers it won't do much to reduce the over all heat output from the headers. Wrap is generally best used to insulate stuff from heat, not prevent it from discharging heat. The other big knock on wrapping headers is that they retain moisture and eventually cause corrosion. That's not as much of a problem for us in the desert, but condensation is still an issue much of the year.
