Gas quality

I wrench on alot of stuff and have noticed a recent spike in fuel system issues.

first my 95 3.0 - when I rebuilt it and went to start it nothing, checked the filter straight clogged, dropped the tank and there was a solid inch of sludge in the tank and on the pump, had to get a new pump, filter and soak the tank in muratic acid for 3 days

second 03 grand am same deal, a solid inch of sludge in the tank on the pump and in the filter

third - just rebuilt a kawasaki prairie for a guy he wrecked it bent the frame so i had to do a frame swap, got everything swapped out went to fire it up nothing, same deal tank and pump caked with sludge

my 95 sat for about 6 months grand am for about 4 and the praire for about 2 I was just wondering if anyone is or has experienced the sme type of excessively poor gas quality.

I know the common denomonator is that they sat for a period of time but dang they shouldnt accumulate that bad

I run treatment in all my stuff now after seeing this.

I've dropped two tanks in the last month now and will personally vow that cheap gas is not worth it.

Both tanks had some nasty gas in there and lots of sludge. Not only that but one of them kept clogging the injectors over and over. Crap was getting passed new fuel filters.

From here on out, I'm only using Shell gas and I'm going to run stabalizer and injector cleaner regularly.

Imo you should also run your tank near empty regularly. One tank I dropped the person never let it go down past half before they filled and there was alot of brown fuel left in there.

Your better off going to name brand gas stations, chevron, shell and others, because they maintain there gas pumps and under ground tanks better than most small mom and pop gas stations.

^^^^^ good point. I also heard that good quality will last longer than cheap gas.

Chevron vs. AMPM gas. I've only used Chevron gas since I've had my truck.
