Creaky body mounts
Hey Guys,
After doing some investigation, I believe my body mounts are creaking. I never noticed it until I sound deadened my doors. It seems to happen when the body is being twisted by G forces or uneven surfaces. I have a 1997 4Runner with about 185k miles on it and the mounts have probably seen better days. You can't really tell about their condition unless you lift the body and take them off, can you?
So my question is: Should I replace my body mounts with urethane mounts or can I just lift the body to clean and lube my mounts? The urethane mounts are not cheap, apparently due to oil prices these days. New mounts would be sweet but if I can avoid the expense that would be great since I wanna do the Tundra/OME lift and Tundra brakes real soon.

I paid $185 for insured shipping for my mounts from 4Crawler. I think it will be a good investment because I think I have trashed my mounts from slamming my runner through the mud fully loaded with passengers a few times. Right now my truck has the "shudder" that Roger describes on his website and creaks really bad when going over bumps, especially while turning sharply. Hopefully it will ride much smoother and quiter once I replace the mounts.

I am going to do the installation myself. I am going to use this writeup here:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...l#Introduction
I will document everything I do as well just in case I come across anything different.

Well, my mounts arrived today at my parents place! I will be heading over there to swap them out tonight since I can't go paint the town red on the count of having to work a saturday....... There are two really good writeups out on the web already but if anyone wants me to document my install then I will. Wish me luck!
