Cab Tar replacement?
Im putting a 86 cab on my 85 22R and im replacing the carpet as I was taking the carpet out and treating rust as I went I noticed there was this tar stuff on the floor that was just peeling and cracking away I went ahead and removed the stuff while i was treating the floors. Should I put something down to replace this stuff before I put the new carpet in?

if the tar/glue is on the body panel seams. Then yes replace it with the same. But if it is just in random places, then no do not replace it with tar. Use some good thinner glue, easier to use stuff you can get at Napa or Autozone. I am pretty sure they make an aresol glue that works. Correct me if I am wrong about that.

The stuff didnt seem like it was glue for the carpet at all. It was just this colored tar stuff that was slightly less than 1/8th of an inch thick put down on the floor of the cab. it was only put on right infront of the seats and across the shifter area.

YEah you really don't want to remove the "tar stuff" (gotta love the technical terms) but if you already did, then before you lay carpet try some dynamat extreme sound deadoner sheets. Hear that works really well for insulating road noise and engine noises.
