Transmission swap for 86 1 ton truck
I have an 86 Toyota 1-ton chassis with a 22re engine and a 4 speed manual transmission. This is an RV and I don't know the gearing of the transmission or final drive. I was planning to rebuild the engine and the transmission, but I was also wondering if there would be a suitable 5 speed transmission that would work well in this application and provide a reduction of rpms at highway speeds. Any information would be appreciated.
