Whats the year of the new cab? Dont emissions go by the year of the vehicle and if you use the VIN off the new cab and its a diff year then emissions might be different unless you swap the VIN. I dont know how emissions are in Cali but I know they are pretty strict

swap the cab and register it as the whole vehicle if the vin is for the other cab whos the wiser that its another on a different truck. in high school i did a body swap from a truck to runner and just registered it as if i bought the whole runner

I did that with my truck, swapped the cab and put the old VIN on it, its an '85 cab but as far as anybody knows its still an '88
