Squeeling noise at idle.

Hi all,

I am new to the toyota truck world, i just picked up a 1990 22re extended cab 4x4 with 95000 miles on it. Its really clean and extremely well kept, everything is stock though (soon to change). However i just encountered my first problem. When i first got it the PO said that new belts were put on 200 miles ago, at higher rpms they would squeel really loud. I tightened the fan belt and the squeel at high rpms went away but now i get a pretty loud squeel at idle. I am thinking that it is a bearing because the increased tension would expose the problem. it will go away as soon as your off idle and then come right back. I just wanted to double check this and maybe get some ideas as to which bearing it may be?

Thanks,

Luke

spray belt dressing on the belt at idle and see if it fixes the sound for the moment. Sounds like belt!

Tried that already, it didn't make any difference.

Thanks,

Luke

Im having the same problem with my 86 4Runner, and ive traced it to the idler pulley bearing.
