Regear needed for 31's or 32's?

i want my 4runnner to look good and i wanted to do a lot of things to it but i decided i am just going to keep it mostly stock. i wanted to put 32s on it but with my gear ratio (4.30) i don't think they will work to well so i am looking at 31s. i am going to buy new wheels too and was wondering if changing the wheel width would make 31s look any bigger. i really want32s but i don't want to regear so i want 31s to look as big as possible. what can i do?

32's and 4.30's wouldn't kill you if you wanted to go that way. Though, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference between a 31 and 32, might as well throw a 32 under there.....if you really wanted too.

If you want the 31's to look as big as you can, fit them with the least amount of lift so they fill the wheel well's. Can't tell in your pic all that well, but it looks like you have running boards still. Take those off as well. Taking them off makes your Runner appear that much taller.

I agree.. I don't think you will notice the difference between 31" and 32" with 4.30s. Do you have an auto or manual tranny? I'm guessing auto.. is that right?

Manual is even better. I would almost say to forget it if it were an auto.. but 32s with 4.30 and manual tranny should be fine. It's not like anyone ever got a 2nd gen 4Runner to race it anyways.

I have never had good luck with the good year truck tires .... the MT's are a 50/50 split with guys on here either they like em or they don't. There car tires rock. I have had 3 sets of BFG AT's and always had a square one b4 the tread life ran out. I have 2 sets of Nittos now 1 on a work truck 1 on mine and another I cant count on a co workers truck we are all extremely happy, especially with the price. I have over 42k on mine.

Dude, there's a lot of places that have a money back guarantee on tires - at least around here. I got some tires at Les Schwab a few years ago and actually asked, "So I can bring these back tomorrow if I don't like 'em?"

I forget how long it was, but they had some kind of mileage limit on the return.. I haven't bought from 'em since then, but you might ask around.
