ok im confused about all this gear stuff.
ive searched and searched, but some people are saying that 5.29s are for 37s and some say for 35s.
I have a 89 toyota pick up.
35"x14.5x15 Super Swamper Boggers.
and right now i have:
4.10s in the rear.
and 4.10s in my front '85 solid axle.
so should i go with 4.88s or 5.29?
and i want to do my gears and lockers at the same time for obvious reasons. so what locker is cheap and reliable but good on the street?

Both gears will work. A 4.88 will give you the most accurate speedometer reading (mine is almost dead on with 35s/4.88s). A 5.29 gear will give you a bit more zip, sinze the engine will have to work less hard to turn those tires. With bias ply Boggers, I would go with a 5.29 gear. I used to run 5.29s with 33" Swamper SXs and BFG MTs. With the Swampers on, it was like I lost one whole gear in the tranny, had to run in 4th gear most of the time compared to the lighter, easier rolling BFGs:

Only thing ive seen with lockers that in turns dissengage is that light weight trucks dont always do it and so its just like if it were welded or a spool. My friend runs an aussie and likes it. Could always go for the ARB and call it golden I know I know its expensive
