my 4runner is bouncy

so, i bought this 4runner, it had a 3in? lift on it and the springs are hard as a rock..

i have some OME replacements on order.. they still havent gotten here, i ordered in december...

but.. when I drive slow... around 20 mph.. my truck bounces up and down... it is very noticeable... I dont think its the tires, as i had them on my heep and never had a problem, and i got them mounted and balanced on the new wheels before I put 'em on the runner.

what could this be?

bent axles? how would i check that?

but i dont really feel it at higher speeds and it seems to go away after a while of driving..

which kind of tires take a bit to "warm up" bias plies or radials? i dont recall what these tires are..... i'll check when i get home...

me just being a nancy?

its definitely there, I can watch the hood bouncing up and down...

thanks for any help!

Can you bounce the suspension at all by pushing down on the truck? Try all 4 corners. If you can move most but not all you may have a frozen shock. Its rare but I've seen it on shocks and sturts.

Also have someone follow you at the bouncing speed and let them look at all the wheels to see if they (or you) can see something going on vibration wise.

the leafs on your front axle are probably a bit stiff. i'm on my third 4runner, they've all been a little bouncy riding in the front seats. i think its alot more comfortable riding in the back seats. i've tried doing DESERTCAMPER suggested and they've always been the same, i can't get the front to move down not even a half inch, either side. probably just too stiff of springs up front

i have pushed down on the corners they barely moved.. but i will have to do it again cause it was a while ago, it could be that the sprigs are hard as a rock and not letting the shocks even function properly.

my springs are supposed to be here in 3 weeks..

Would help if you posted details on the vehicle in question (like model and year) and also on the suspension. Are the shocks the right size for the lift? If too short or too long, they will not work well, either limiting up or down travel.

Yank a shock off,if you can compress it with little or no resistance, could be NEW shock time.

Might try changing the shock setting to see if that makes a difference. Also, see if the spring shackles are rusted in place or if the spring leaves have rusted together. And see how much up travel you have to the bump stops and how much compression length is available on the shocks.
