sounds like the steering wheel or ignition is in a bind try pulling the steering wheel hard toward the drivers door while trying to turn the key. The key in my 87 does the same thing from time to time this usually works though I have yet to find the true problem.

The key part of the ignition switch can wear out after years of use, try spraying a little PB Blaster or WD40 into the key hole and see if that helps, if not then you might need to have the key cylinder replaced.

Try jiggling the key in the ignition while gently jiggling the steering wheel back and forth.
I usually just the jiggle the crap out of both of them until the key turns - sounds like you need a new key or your ignition cylinder is worn down or both.

Also, next time, a thread with an ambiguous title like this is just going to get deleted.
You have to put more in it than just help so people can find it later when searching.

Good luck,

Fink

That is going to be ugly. I'm pretty sure you're going to have to kind of bust it apart. Its not made to come apart easliy.

I've got one at the junk yard with a key in it. I had to carry a door AND ignition key.

Try turning the key over, make sense? This happens to me and I just flip the key and it works. Is you key worn or even a copy?

Try putting some graphite in there. It works wonders shoot a bunch in there and coat the key with it. Then slide the key in and out a few times and coat it and shoot more in, then try turning it. Almost every car I've ever had this problem with it fixes it. Graphite pwns 95% of stuck locks I've came across the other 5% we just had to cut or replace.

graphite is only a temporary fix if it works which many times it does. you will need the lock cylinder replaced

graphite isnt really a temp fix, its more of a should be done thing. You are susposed to lube(which graphite does) locks, hinges and greese certs often which most people never do. Call around to locksmiths and ask them about graphite..
