Ignition Tumbler

I recently lost a key to my 1982 Toyota Pickup and so I went down to the auto parts store and picked up a replacement tumbler for $22. I have no idea how to pull the current one out without a key though.

The small notes for replacing the tumbler that came with my new one said there is a pin to depress while the key is in the "acc" position. I don't have a key though so I was wondering if there is another way around this without pulling everything apart.

There is only one way without out the key

You drill out the pin!!

Now since this is a hard pin and it spins this is pretty much a two person job.

One to drill and one to apply pressure on the pin.

Good luck

Of course you could have a new key made by a locksmith lowest cost is to pull the right door lock cylinder and take it to them or replace the whole steering column . As this is old enough

Thanks that worked for me, but I had to remove the steering wheel to get the bit to go in straight.
