I have a 1992 4x4 toyota pick up 3.0L and I want to do a diesel swap but not sure what all I need what the best diesel to use is. Will I have to get a new tranny or can I make a plate for mine stock one. Gears? Computer? What all do I need can some one help me out here

You might have better luck on the engine swap forum. I know a few people have swapped in 1.8L VW diesels. Doing a google search with Yotatech in the search title will yield some useful results.

Second on the OM617 swap. I just snagged an entire engine from the junkyard for $300. I'll be buying the 4x4labs adapter kit and making my own motor mounts. My truck was already a carb'd vehicle so I don't have to worry about computers, wiring, etc. Plus, the reviews I've been seeing on this swap have seemed quite positive: ~26MPG, added power/torque, etc.

I was just up in Grass Valley, Calif. visiting 4x4 Labs earlier this week, picking up some bumper parts for my wife's cruiser. Luke gave me a mini tour and he let me drool all over an OM603 that he has adapted and for swapping into a FZJ80, or should I call it an OMJ80. This guy makes some very nice parts! I am envious, sir!
