Cluncking noises when I turn
I have a 87 4 runner SAS with 3" springs, high steer and a currie sway bar.
I getting a clunck, clunck when turning, not when I'm steering. the truck is set in a turn on flat level ground when I get a double clunck. When driving in a figure 8 it is as though it resets and cluncks again when turning in the opposite direction. I don't feel it in the steering and it does not happen over bumps or driving straight. Something is loose or binding, I think I've checked everything.
help me please!!!

I had a similar noise in my truck, turned out to be the leafs shifting in the front spring pack, you can check the spring retainer clams if they are bent open a little and letting the spring move too much you can bend them back, or you can re-torque the u bolts on the front end and see if it goes away, if so then you found your problem

Oops I meant clamPs. sorry bout that. I found that most the time if I just re-torque to 100ft-lbs that the popping would go away.

Guys, Thanx for the response, I've been away and unable to answer.
WabFab. I believe it's in the geometry of the shackels,
I did remove the sway bar, no change.
I did replace the bushings, no change.
No locker up front
However when I replace the bushings I noticed that the bolt holes in the shackels are already staring to oval! I believe that the rear bolt mount in the frame is not square, plumb or straight. I need to pull the springs and remeasure everything. what's your thoughts?

Like a parking lot.
If you notice the creaking at full lock and only over bumps, it's the steering stoppers...
If it continues, it's not the steering stoppers.
Loose sway bars or missing sway bar bushings will make a rattle.

do you have wheel spacers? Are your wheels torqued properly? Even different wheels make a difference for me. When I back out of my driveway down the curb with my mud tires on it goes "clunk" but not with my "street" tires.

i call them the steering stoppers there probably used to be a hard rubber or plastic covering the heads if that wears off and you turn your wheel the whole way while turning that bolt will make a metal to metal grinding noise

boys read the post. it's an Solid Axle Swaped truck. the steering stop plastic caps on your IFS trucks do not apply as the steering knuckle doesn't move on a toyota solid axle. yes thouse caps wear through but solid axle's don't actually have them, at all.
jaxsondog;
sounds like your having the same issue as i am. although i know my trail gear bushings are completely messed and need replacing. as i kinda need to figure out what i need to do as well. i'm leaning to go away from the trail gear bushings because they are pretty hard and when i installed the trail gear front hanger kit. the bushings cracked in under 2 months. although the older bushings on my truck lasted longer.
what springs are you runnning and what bushings?
have you checked your tie rod ends?
does anyone have any thought's on some good decent leaf bushings?
