due to my specific "overheating" issue and the water "rushing" sound i get behind my dash sometimes, i thought maybe i'd try to burp my radiator to see if there is any trapped air. i parked on a small incline, chocked the rear wheels and jacked up the front a foot or so. with the engine cold, i took off the rad cap, put the heat on full blast (outside air) then turned the car on. i kept a rag over (but not completely covering) the rad cap hole and watched it until the engine got to operating temp. nothing ever happened. nothing came out of the the hole, no fluid was sucked in through the reservoir (which is full) and even with squeezing the upper rad hose, nothing happened. what was supposed to happen? did i do something wrong?

Try and pressure test your system to check for leaks, sounds to me like you are low on fluid.

low on fluid where, in the rad? if it was low, why didnt it suck any in from the reservoir? i might try topping off the radiator with coolant

Kinda off topic here, but I kinda have the same issue.

I hear the rushing fluid sound behind the dash but only when the engine is warming up. Im guessing its the thermostat opening, but lately the sound is getting louder and there is kinda a squeaking sound to the fluid. If that makes any sence..
