93 pickup hvac backlight question
I just got a 93 pickup, base model, and there is no "backlight" behind the heat/air/fan controls when the lights are turned on, I was wondering if there is supposed to be one, or, since this truck is as bare bones as you can get, did Toyota figure that seeing where your fan/heat/vents were at night was a luxury? I tried the brightness reostate, and several slaps to the general area, but no luck. If there is a bulb back there, anyone got a good link to pulling that area apart without damaging 17 year old plastic?

The is a little light bulb with a green rubber thing on it. You do have to dissemble the entire dash to get to it though unless you can some how pry the display plastic off off the ac knob area without breaking it.

Hey man heres the factory service manual for your truck. The Body Mechanical section has the whole dash lay out.

you actually can just pry the face off to get to it, i did mine just the other day. there are instructions in the repair section on this site on how to do it. all you do is pry the face off and pop out the clear plastic piece behind it and the bulb is right there. it only took me about 20 minutes to change.
