Okay, im new to this so stay with me. I have a 96 4runner limited 4wd with rear diff. this is my second one and im still in highschool. trying to get some help on ideas. im wanting to get a lift and since i need new tires im just gonna go ahead and get 285's. i wont be doing any wheeling really; the only offrod ill be doing is at my property in georgia but not any bogging. im thinking about going with new shocks and FZJ80 coils in rear but im unsure about the front? any help? im on a highschool budget soo im not paying 600$ for adjustable coilovers. i came across some procomp coil overs for 4runners and tacomas which say have a 4" front lift, ther 160 bucks a pair. wud that be too much lift for the front or what do u guys think?

I've been doing some research as well on fitting 285's and it sounds like you can fit them in with a 3" lift, but may have to do a little "dremel" work for slight rubs. Maybe someone with some experience can chime in.

i knew that you could fit them with a 3" lift too. but for 160 a pair for coilovers it sounded like a steal too me

if you wanna be cheap how bout just coil spacers ? if not this site has full spring lifts for like 400 dollars

with a little pounding you can fit 255/85/16 stock

with a daystar spacer lift you will definately be able to fit 285.75... you may have some rubbing with tight turns... and procomps are what you want if you want cheap.... but i and im sure many others will agree think they are some of the worst shoccks you can buy

yeah ive been reading that procomp shocks arent very good. what kind of lift do u have daystar?

i dont have a daystar.. my suspension is custom, but they have ones for just the front, and puck lifts for front and rear. Part # KT09106BK is for both...

but you will still need to replace the shocks. Id go with bilsteins.. but they may as well be made of gold theyre so pricey. Ive heard good things about OME and tokico

Moved to Newbie Tech.

From my experience coil spacers are a rough riding and cheap route.
If you plan on keeping it for any amount of time I would highly suggest you save your money and do it right from the beginning.

$160 for coilovers is purely insane.
Something's up with that.

I would do the traditional Tundra/OME lift.
Coilover's will give you slightly better ride quality but are much more expensive.

Do some searching on here under the "96-2002 4Runners" section and see what you come up with.
