2RZ Carb with manifold Air Injection
Hello all, I have a 1997 Hiace van with SOHC 2RZ Engine with Aisan brand carby. Van is Australian Model.
There is a manifold air injection system on it:
Air pipe from air filter pipe through a Vacuum operated valve to a inlet under the carb directly into the manifold plenum. (with no restrictor orifice etc).
The vacuum tube runs from vacuum source in the manifold (plastic tree) valve in the manifold and then through a electric solenoid valve with 2 pin plug after that, straight to the Vacuum operated valve on the air pipe. Valve is normally closed as to say when no vacuum the valve is closed.
I believe its for emission control but would like any feed back on this system. I want to disconnect it.
Cheers, Mike

I am not familiar with that setup, but if it works, I would just leave it alone.
The Air Injection on the older 22R engines (at least in the United States) allows air (oxygen) to enter the exhaust to help the catalytic converter work more efficiently, but I am not sure what the purpose of the system is on your 2RZ.
Does the system connect to the exhaust somewhere?
