1990 Toyota Load Sensing Proportional Valve

I have a 1990 Toyota pickup, standard. My load sensing proportional valve is leaking brake fluid. I haven't looked at it closely yet. Just saw it was leaking and said - I'll just get another one. Who carries one of these valves? Found one on Ebay for over $200. Thought that was a little high. Does anyone carry a rebuild kit? Never worked on a LSPV, could it be as simple as O ring replacement? Are there any precautions I should take before attempting to take apart?

Besides Toyota? Nobody...that I know of.

That's more than Toyota will charge you. You can order one online for ~$130 + shipping from an OEM parts distributor.

No. Not even Toyota. They do not sell ANY parts for the LSPV, except the bleeder valve, the rubber cap for it, and the clip that holds the boot on at the bottom.

I've never heard of anyone even trying to disassemble one, let alone try to refurbish it. From what I've seen in diagrams, it doesn't look like there's any parts that could be easily replaced. But I could be wrong.

See pages 98-101 of this pdf http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/brake08.pdf

I thought I had already replied to this post. Thanks for the replacement info. However, the Toyota dealership nearest my home is asking $256 for the LSPV. I have looked for OEM websites that has this valve, no luck. I'm not internet savey, so if anyone finds a website that carries this valve, please let me know. Again, thanks for the info.

I just glanced on Bing and found this one:

You'd have to check year interchangeability...

No problem. You might find one a bit cheaper through other online Toy parts dealers. Google the part number with "Toyota" & maybe something else will pop up. Good luck!
