Crash Test results of the 4th Gen
Toyota 4Runner is best performer: The redesigned 4Runner improved compared with the previous-generation model that was rated acceptable when the Institute tested it in 1996.
"The previous model had some intrusion into the footwell area, and the steering wheel moved upward too much during the crash, compromising the performance of the restraint system," Lund says. "In contrast, the new 4Runner is a good performer across the board with minimal intrusion into the passenger compartment, a steering column that doesn't move much, and low injury measures on the dummy. It's a good performer and a best pick."

In short the Kia Sorento got an acceptable, worst out of all of them and the Honda Pilot and Infiniti FX35 had recalls issued to upgrade the airbags to deploy faster

Thats good to hear, looks like Toyota did an excellent job of designing the 4th gen inside and out. I always thought the 3rd gen did pretty well in the crash tests.

Bad news though guys, it was on the news this weekend that it got a poor rateing on slow speed colisions > 5 mph. The bumpers allowed too much damage. But hey, my first gen has the same problem:cry:, guess they didn't fix everything

Honda and Infiniti are tested twice: In the first tests of the Pilot and the FX, the front airbags deployed late. As a result, the dummies recorded high head accelerations.

I got to agree with FirstToy, I just want to know that I'll be able to walk away and so wil my passengers, when I got the 4Runner I took into consideration the 3rd Gen Crash Test Results and figured Toyota is only making the 4Runner better
The bumper test are point less, it's makes as much sence as holding your hand over fire to see how bad it burns we all know the results.
