2005 ARB Tacoma Bumper

Some of us know that the 4th gen/05 Taco bumpers from ARB have been in the works, but has anybody actually seen one? I've been popping through old threads and noticed this, which went pretty much un-noticed. IIRC, thats the bumper I wanted for MY 4runner but it wasn't available in the US....Just me thinking out loud...

Looks gooood.

yup, me included. the buyer is being a bit shady, and apparently wasn't as serious as he made it seem ... and with summer coming, i'm thinking of heading out to another state for awhile, so i thought i might as well take the truck along unless this guy follows through.

i had been thinking of a tube bumper ... but if the ARB were to come out relatively soon, i'd have a difficult choice to make.

gapguy, do you know anything of when it's supposed to be available? all i've heard is "soon" ... but have been hearing that for sooooo long.

that Mayan Taco ARB bumper was a Prado bumper that the ARB guys altered to fit the Taco.

I'm not sure if that is the original ARB they put on that truck, but I remember reading about the modifications they did to a landcruiser bumper to make it fit their "mayan project" tacoma. IIRC they just had to narrow it slightly and make a couple of notches.

But in the article they said the changes and measurements they made were carefully recorded so they could mass produce them for the new tacomas.

well, it looks good on there! I'm leaning toward getting someone to make a tube bumper - front and rear. The trick, I suppose, is finding a willing shop.

Yeah that's the original bumper they used. I've read a few articles on that bumper and I to recall them saying they were recording the measurements to possibly mass produce them. I think the final outcome will look somewhat different as they will have to increase the size of the hoops over the lights so they don't sit in front of the headlights, but other than that it looks like that might be almost exactly what it looks like.

I called ARB on Friday and talked to them about the bumper for the 2005 Tacoma. He said a new Tacoma was purchased, will take 2 months to ship to AUSSIE LAND and then give then about 6 months to get one built, then 2-3 months to test them over here... He said by law the vehicel can not be there no longer than 1 year.

So I am hoping by X-Mas I will have a ARB on my Tacoma.

Hmm. I wouldn't count on it. Haven't they been saying for a very long time that the 4th gen. 4Runner bumper would be out soon too???
