Well, this thread didn't get much response but I have a related question...I have an 89 gen 1 and want to install a newly tinted set of driver and pass windows (rather than removing the tint on the existing windows). Has anybody removed the side windows without removing the inner and outer window wipes? I know from experience that the clasps on these wipes will break if they are removed (even when being as carefull as posssible). If anyone has actual experience at window replacement with the wipes in place (or) removing the wipes without destroying them, I'd like to hear about youe experiences. Thnx!

Not that I know if. get a new set at the dealer and have them ready to go. I've pulled mine out a couple of times to replace broken glass and I havent broken anything. Just be careful.

i tinted my extra cab (slim) windows..and it was easier then the rear (4 plate, ) window...

but, the rubber molding just "unrolls" out of its clammy grip...
i would (if its cold) hit it w/the heat gun / hair drier (if nothing else) and it should be more pliable.

when i tinted mine, i just kept the glass soaked w/distilled water and a drop of johnsons baby shampoo mixed in...came out great (just sold the truck though)...the rear (sliding) window was much more difficult

hope that helps.
happy trails...
