Ok I actually thing your wooded bed is cool. It would fit my quad.

my old one would have which is laying by the side of that, this one I didn't build, but is mostly aluminum skeleton and a wooden bottom and sides. Mostly all bolted together with a few tack welds here and there just for good measure I guess.

I think the width of this is like 5ft and the length is just about 6ft if that helps.

in my build thread you can probably see the old flatbed, off-hand I don't remember if I took good photos of it. Might be a few here and there in some of the rausch creek trial ride trip report threads as well.

That is a good size bed. I was going to see if I could shorten it up a bit to gain some clearance though.

I did that with my old bed, took about 6" off the end of it. Almost right to the end of the frame. That is in my build thread too. This one sits a heck of alot taller as far as the bottom of the bed goes. It's pretty much right at the frame rail height in the rear.

The new bed is pretty much the size of the old bed dimensions I think.

Had to do some digging to find these photos, but I used to have an 86 turbo pickup with a 89-95 bed on it. I didn't think it looked bad at all. It might look better because it has primer on it with no shine so the mismatched body lines aren't as noticeable, but I would drive it.

If it was my truck, I would do whatever was cheapest and available. Also, if you build a flat bed, I would keep it as light as practically possible. Nothing like a 22RE that's not pulling much weight.

Thanks for the pictures skinfan6. I think it looks good. I am not very concerned with body lines. Even if I was I am going to get what ever comes into the junk yard by me.

Once I get the bed off I will deside on the bed but I am thinking that a basic flatbed will be good because I want the truck to be something I can still drive everyday but use on weekend off road trips. I want to keep it reasonable because of my budget and so I can get some gas mileage out of it. I have an extra set of 31s laying around so that will be a start but I would like to eventually get 33s and a small lift that is very flexy. I have also been looking into a hydraulic winch made by mile marker. It is an h9000 and you can run it off of you power steering pump. Right now these are just ideas but that's how a buildup starts.
