so whats the power like in something like that? doesn't seem too impressive by the numbers, though who doesn't like a turbo diesel?

"Its a AHU code 1.9 that had 90hp and 150lb/ft. in stock form." is that accurate in his description or a typo? if thats a typo, thats why i say the numbers werent very impressive

That swap is popular with the samurai crowd.
check this: http://www.acmeadapters.com/store_engine.php
Personally I'd swap a yota diesel of the 2L or 3L series for the larger displacement. I don't think 1.6 is going to cut it at 4000lbs

Stock the 1.6 / 1.9's (td and na) are a fairly close match to the 22r. Weight if I recall is actually a bit less with the Vdub motors.
Of course that's STOCK vdub motors - these VW diesels are quite easily pushed up into the 160hp range (and much higher than that if one wants to really invest $$$).
I'm currently chasing a 1.6td for my truck - and chasing down those nice details about how the heck i'm going to get the A340E to work behind it.
There's a lot about the swaps on pirate - and tons of zuk's are running these motors.
The nicest part about this swap - is the parts are easily found/sourced. Finding parts for a 2L/3L toyota isn't exactly easy.

I was thinkin the same thang The idea is great but I think I would look for something with a bit more power.

im going to do a 2.8L Turbo Toyota Diesel or 3.0L Turbo Toyota Diesel within the next few months to years here. there are lots around down here and tons for sale. i think i am going to 3.0L TD because 1 for the power and 2 to keep it a 3.0l 4runner but no longer a 3.slow (which it is in comparison to the newer ones, but back in its day it was quick.)
