The top is a 1st gen 4runner top. They are removable. If you have a first gen then the bolts are under the interior trim pieces on the rear. If you have a later model 4runner...then it's custom!

It worked awesome, If your garage is un-finished,(no Drywall) just strap around the joists. If you have a finished garage, (fully Drywalled) screw a few hooks into your ceiling, make'n sure to hit on of the joists!!

I used 4 straps, one for each corner of the hard top!! worked great you could even park under it without any problems, ( I shared my garage with my parents at the time, they even parked there 2nd gen under it)

I don't care to much about myself getting wet, but the TOYOTA
i don't want more rust, I want it to last. Or do you think it wouldn't harm it.

Last summer I just carried a tarp and bungee cords to cover it when it rained. The biggest problem was I really couldn't drive like that and I missed it a couple times and it took forever for the carpet to dry out.

I have experience with two 1st gen 4runners, an 84 and now an 89, and its a much better design and easier to remove than either my 88 Jeep or 89 Bronco(two cars I had before the runners). For my 89, I had a pulley system rigged up for awhile, but now that I have the Tacoma, the top is off of the 4runner permanently.
For anyone that has a 1st gen and you are thinking of selling it. DON'T! I made that mistake with the 84, and whenever I see an orange metallic gold 84 4runner I kick myself. The 89 is nice, but I still miss that first one.
