rear window problem

I have a 90 4runner the rear window will not work from the center console switches. I works fine with the key in the gate. I have replaced the switch, lock switch, rear window relay module and still nothing. Doesn't seem like I have any power to switch. Checked with test light none of the wires running to it have power and I have no clicking in the relays in the back. Wondering if anyone has any ideas. One more thing is the rear cargo light stopped working at the same time. Thanks

Is the wiper in the Stow position, and gate closed good and tight?

Look at post #185 and #186...Link>>>https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...99/index8.html

Yes I made sure wiper was up and even ran it through a couple cycles to make sure. Gate is also shut tight. I guess I need to find out where the front switch gets its power from. I think that is where my problem is. I have replaced pretty much the whole system. It rolls up and down fine with the key in the rear gate like it should. I just need to figure the other part out.

No power goes to the console, so you will not read voltage there. The up/down switch's function is to connect "down" or "up" pins on the door control relay module to ground. Lock switch simply interrupts connection to ground. Check for continuity to ground to UP and Down pins on control relay when you toggle up/down switch.

In schematic, you would see 2 inputs that look like power supplies.
  • One comes from a circuit breaker. This is real power for relay module.
  • Another from ignition switch/circuit. This is what's different between console control and tailgate key control. Tailgate key control logic does not require this. If this input is missing, key control will still work, but console will not.
Make sure you get power to to both pins.
On first-gen Up is pin 5 (red with white stripe), Down is green with white stripe. I do not have schematic for your model but concept should be similar. Look for equivalent UP/Down pins for your model

Good luck.

I recently bought my 1990 4Runner and one of the problems I have with it is the rear window wont roll down or up for that mater with the Key. I pulled the panel off the tail gate and noticed that the key doesn't have a switch attached to it. You can see the connector just dangling there. Does anyone know where I can get this switch?
