"spreadin her legs so i can go to town on her "

I was amused with that statement accompanying the pic. I'm glad you got it figured out.

Thats what I like about this site. People can throw ideas for ya to look into. I usually am able to dismiss most of them until one comes along that I can't, and when ya get to looking it usually comes to light. One of them will get it tho. Keeps me from chasing my tail.

I have never bought a junkyard Diff. I have no advice for ya on that one.

Good luck

Larry

Currently on the lookout for a 4.56 diff, theres 2 in the junkyard one town over...but i'm not sure if they're good or not.

what should i look for when buying a junkyard diff? Besides the obvious like a chipped tooth on the ring or pinion...or not spinning smooth lol
Rust on the gears would be the cause of cencern.
Generally means that the diff has been submerged in water.
And the bearings could be smoked.
i mean, otherwise, if the gears look to be in good condition, with no cracks or chips, and theres no play in the pinion flange, then buy it.
But certainly don't mess with it, lol.

You could buy a set of 4.56 gear/ pinion and bearing kit and have someone do it for you. It should be less than 500.

i grabbed ahold of my brake drum, and went to pull my axle out a little and it felt likes the bearings were BAD....like BAD BAD...i could wiggle my drum like 1/4".

So this means my bearings are bad correct? i wouldn't think i would be able to move my drum at all...correct?

there was 2 5.29 differentials in the Tulsa Oklahoma craigslist (auto parts) for sale...dude was parting out a lifted 4runner...had a locker in the rear..and a 7.5" 5.29 front.

gonna replace my bearings and axle seals this week...and probably make a trip to set Govt.Mule and buy his 4.56 diff he has...unless i can find a better deal
